German term

mittelständiges Herz

German to English Medical Medical (general)
Hallo,

aus einer Krankenakte, körperliche Untersuchung bei mehrer Fehlgeburten.

Cor: Mittelständiger, normal großes Herz, normofrequent.

Wie übersetze ich hier mittelständig am korrektesten?

Danke!

Discussion

SJLD Sep 7, 2011:
I'm assuming this is a radiological observation (Mittelständiger, normal großes Herz). In fact a mittelständiges Herz is mesocardia, which is abnormal. I don't think there is anything abnormal here. And I think what the author really meant was mittelständiges Mediastinum.
SJLD Sep 7, 2011:
These questions refer to the heart's electrical axis, not its position on a chest x ray.

no cardiac shift

The same idea is best conveyed by expressing it the other way (a)round in English.
Peer comment(s):

agree SJLD : not th most common expression, but the right idea - no displacement of the cardiac shadow/silhouette
