Arabic term

خمور

Homework / test Arabic to English Medical Medical (general) Informed consent form for participation of clinical trial (autistic child)
يجب علي ان امتنع عن تناول اي مواد كحولية, بما في ذلك الجعة (البيرة ) والخمور

Can خمور be translated as "wine" or only "alcohol"? If only "alcohol", it's a bit problematic with the first part of the sentence -

"I must refrain from consuming any alcoholic substances such as beer and [alcohol]??", or just omit the alcohol?

Thanks,
Ethan

Discussion

dimamarcel Jul 26, 2011:
"Beer" is correct. I guess the word البيرة was between brackets because it's sort of a synonym to الجعة which is not very commonly used.

Great, thank you. And I assume "beer" the way I said it was correct? Can the brackets be ignored, basically the same word, right?
