English term or phrase:
Find Your 1 thing

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.
How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:
An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)
A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).
Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.
When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.
* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.
Proposed translations
I think, this is the closest so far. |
A hit again! "Найди способ сделать хотя бы одно доброе дело."- just what I needed. |
agree |
Vitaliy Shkonda

They mean do something good for others: donate just one sweater, one can of soup - that sort of thing. |

Thank you, but they mean :"do good unto others", not yourself |
Better, but what about "one thing" - emphasis is on that |

The closest I came to is "Сделайте хотя бы одно доброе дело", but the "find" element is missing here. And also in a straightforward variant "одно свое дело" does not sound right, don't you think? |

How would it sound together if the emphasis on "one thing", which would be "одно дело"? That is why I asked this question in the first place - if you translate it straightforward it does not sound right in Russian, and this is a serious document. |

Discussion
1) do something good unto others
2) do it (donate, work for free) just ONE time;
3) it should be your own initiative, choose what you will do - and just do it.
Thank you to everyone participating.
