English term

prescription allocation

English Other General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters
I have chosen a broad field for the question, as I am not quite sure if the phrase is specific to any field.

My text is medical, but from Google hits of the phrase I get the impression that "prescription" is intended in a non-medical meaning (but I might be wrong).

The text is an instruction sheet for testing marketing concepts for a new medicinal product (through inteviews with physicians). In a "Stimuli inventory" (which also includes a number of print ad concepts and a warm-up exercise) there is an item called "Prescription Allocation Exercise".

My target is Swedish, but any hints as to the meaning would be appreciated.

Discussion

Seems that I actually had this exercise in one doc:
 Before we continue, let’s take a look at the Prescription Allocation you completed before our interview
 REVIEW allocations
 Probe scenarios that drive prescribing for top 3 prescriptions:
 Tell me what is different about the situations in which you prescribe [most prescribed], [second most prescribed], and [third most prescribed]
 Are those differences driven by the therapies themselves or by other dynamics (formulary, etc.)

It seemed that the "prescription allocation" is something that the physician has completed before the interview. Could it be either a ranking of which medical products s(he) uses the most for patients with the disorder in question; or short description of the different scenarios that call for each kind of remedy? Does anyone of these seem like a reasonable interpretation to a native speaker?
No more contexct No more context in this document. Possibly there will be a separate document for this particular exercise in the future. The bullet list reads:

Stimuli Inventory:
 Print Ad Concepts (6 concepts, 2 with alternative executions) - Agency
 Prescription Allocation Exercise – Six Degrees
 Warm Up Exercise Advertisement (in English) – Six Degrees

Is there any explanation or any additional text with "prescription allocation"? If not, could you provide the surrounding context, even it amounts to just bullet points above and below "prescr. allocation"?

medication selection

The term is indeed vague, but this is my take on it, speaking as a physician who is routinely the target of these pharmaceutical marketing projects. My wife also happens to market pharmaceuticals.

I am frequently paid to complete surveys of my prescription habits for particular diseases or conditions. They will often ask me to list my top three or four medications for a particular problem and explain why. The purpose is to determine what drives a particular product - clinical studies, price, recommendations from peers, idiosyncratic aspects of the patient, etc.

3 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thanks a lot to all of you. Difficult to judge whom to award points. Alexander's answer put me on the right track but Michaels made me even more certain. I finally used a phrase equivalent of "prescription pattern""

remedy allocation/finding

Exercise in finding a remedy.
Peer comment(s):

disagree Alexander Demyanov : Sorry, "allocation" doesn't really mean "finding", that's it//I don't understand what you mean by that. "Finding a remedy" means "finding a way to treat a disease".

"finding" here refers to its proper place.

Right, with your explanation it's clear that in this context "prescription allocation" is a "distribution of usage" of different drugs in a physician's practice. Extra context does help.

disagree zax : remedy = put right

What are you talking about, zax? Where did you find "remedy" in my suggested explanation?
