Arabic term

عجزة طاعون في السن يرقبون هول ساعتهم

Arabic to English Other General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters idiom?
don't understand this idiom, something like "living out their days in dread", these are old people displaced by war in a refugee camp whose sons have been killed in fighting and so have no hope either of returning to their homes or grandchildren. All help much appreciated.

I have this feeling it is "Awaiting their hour (of death) in dread"

Exactly that

Excatly that: "Old people living out their days in dread". I like it.

By the way it is طاعنون and not طاعون which means a plague :)

Eliana Bunn:
If عحزة here means "old", then what would طاعنون في السن mean? How would you fit that meaning in the whole sentence?
